Well, as unexpected as this news can be, MS Dhoni is the latest player to join the ‘No IPL this year’ bandwagon. Yes, after Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and others, the former Indian skipper will now not be seen featuring in the 10th edition of the tournament this year.
It all began after Dhoni getting the sack as the Rising Pune Supergiants(RPS) captain. RPS owner Sanjiv Goenka had said that what they were looking for was a younger captain and that an ‘ageing Dhoni’ wouldn’t have worked for the team.
There was news before as well that this didn’t go down well with Captain Cool. And now, this news just goes on to confirm it.
Rumours have also been doing the rounds that not all is well between Steven Smith and Dhoni. With Smith donning the captain’s hat, there was speculation that the professional relationship between the two hasn’t been great.
With Dhoni stepping down as ODI captain earlier this year, he’s been missing in action and fans were hoping to see him knock it down in the IPL. This news, however, will be extremely disheartening for them.
We hope to see Mahi back in action soon.
We’re glad that we’ve managed to convince you about MS Dhoni’s injury. Happy April fool’s Day! 🙂
