Yuzvendra Chahal, who stunned everyone with his 6/25 record in yesterday’s final T20I between India vs England is certainly the man of the moment. He has made it to the international stage after a fairly decent performance in the IPL as a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore.
His ability to bowl within the power play turned out to be of advantage for the Indian team. His performance yesterday not only proved what a leg spinner can achieve but also led India to the series victory.
After winning Man of the Match along with Man of the Series, he spoke to Ravi Shastri and thanked MS Dhoni for helping him get over the line and Amit Mishra for sharing bowling techniques. He further added, “Dhoni used to tell me what the batsman is going to play. They played the sweep well and hence I bowled full. Mishy bowled well in the last match as well, looking at him I get the confidence to toss the ball up”.
He went on to say that, “I felt nice playing my first match at Bengaluru for India. I feel like home while playing here. I have bowled in the powerplay in the IPL and Virat has the confidence in me and even I have the confidence to bowl in the first six overs. Since it is a small ground, the batsman try to play their shots, I plan according to that. and never dreamt of taking six wickets”.
Chahal is now only the second bowler after Sri Lankan spinner Ajantha Mendis to snare six wickets in an innings in T20 Internationals.
