3rd test 5th day: Australia beat Pakistan to clean sweep series

Australia defeated Pakistan by 220 runs on the fifth and final day of the third test match at Sydney to clean sweep the visitors by 3-0. It was an outstanding performance by the Australian bowlers who bowled with control and did not allow Pakistan to score runs easily.

Pakistan began the 5th day on 55 for 1 but lost the wicket of Azhar Ali in very first over itself which set Pakistan on the back foot. Australia took wickets at regular intervals. Yasir Shah, who was sent as night watchmen played 93 balls for his 13 runs. Younis Khan who scored 175 not out in the first innings was dismissed for just 9 runs. Pakistan captain Misbah UL Haq looked in good form scoring remaining not out on 18 . At lunch Pakistan were struggling at 128 for 5.

Asad Shafiq and Misbah tried to steady the innings but Mitchell Starc picked the wicket of Asad Shafiq to put pressure back on Pakistan team again. The 7th wicket partnership of Sarfarz Ahmed and Misbah added 52 runs before captain Misbah was dismissed for 38. Sarfarz Ahmed played a lone hand scoring his fifty in 61 balls and remained not out on 72. Pakistan were bowled out for 244. It was a complete dominating performance by Australia who outplayed Pakistan in all departments.

For his brilliant performance in the match David Warner was named man of match. Australian captain Steve Smith was named man of series.
