According to Bihar Cricket Association Secretary Aditya Verma, MS Dhoni was under pressure to retire from captaincy in ODI and T20 format.

Speaking to TOI, Aditya Verma said: “Choudhary was unhappy with the fact that Jharkhand lost to Gujarat despite being in a commanding position under Dhoni’s mentorship. Choudhary then telephoned MSK Prasad and instructed the latter to ask the cricketer about his future plans. Dhoni was hurt with the whole episode and sent across his resignation soon after”.

On 4th January MS Dhoni suddenly stepped down from captaincy in ODI and T20 format giving the captaincy to Virat Kohli in limited overs format too. Virat Kohli told that MS Dhoni has saved him from dropping out of the team and supported him in tough times.

MS Dhoni was one the best captains for Indian cricket winning 3 ICC trophies which is a great achievement for any captain. His performance with the bat in the past 1 year was not good.

Jharkhand reached the semi-finals of 2016/17 Ranji Trophy season. He was in Nagpur to mentor Jharkhand in the semi finals against Gujarat and lost out in the semi-finals after being in a great position to reach their first Ranji Trophy finals.
