Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin reveals his favourite captian

Ravichandran Ashwin reveals Sourav Ganguly as his favourite captain. He said that he had seen Ganguly mould team India from absolutely nothing, that even in the black cloud of match-fixing back in 2000. This statement came in a Tamil Reality TV Show when the interviewer asked Ashwin his favourite captain among Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli.

Ashwin played his first cricket match under the captaincy of MS Dhoni in 2011, while in 2015 Virat Kohli took the responsibility of Test captaincy from MS Dhoni. Many even say that Ashwin’s success is because MS Dhoni.

No matter what anyone says, Ashwin is surely a talented bowler and has a great future ahead. So, it’s rather a silly question as Kohli has recently started captaining India while MS Dhoni had captained India since 2007 in T20 and later on in Test and ODI.

But when he was asked his favourite captain, he answered Sourav Ganguly, who was a legendary captain and was known for his aggressive batting style. Ashwin grew up watching Dada (Ganguly) and so, he chose him as his favourite captain.

When Ashwin was asked the best captain, without any hesitation, once again he answered Sourav Ganguly. He went on to say that he grew up watching Dada lead team India and he, more importantly, said that Dada has saved team India when cricket was in a turmoil and he brought youngsters who went on to become the reason for India’s success. Ashwin will play the first ODI of the five-match ODI series on January 12 at WACA, Perth.
