The young Indian sensation Rishabh Pant has been rewarded with the maiden call-up to Indian T20 squad that will face England in three T20 matches starting from 26th January. Pant had a great 2016/17 Ranji Season scoring 972 runs in 8 matches with an average of 81. He scored a brilliant triple ton against Maharashtra which set the Ranji Trophy on fire.
In the T20 squad against England, Pant has been called as a backup wicket keeper. MS Dhoni who has stepped down from captaincy will continue to do the wicketkeeping job. If he could perform well in the T20 series against a top quality side, then Pant could be an exciting player for the Indian team in future.
“I am trying to learn from Dhoni bhai (Mahendra Singh Dhoni) since a long time, but time never came, because he was different (in different teams). Now since the opportunity has come, I will get to learn a lot of wicket-keeping (from him) and he will make the mindset good,” he was as quoted by PTI.
Pant has played for India in the Under 19 World Cup which was played at Bangladesh in 2016. His ability to play with an aggressive attitude makes him a dangerous batsmen. Under the coaching of Rahul Dravid, Pant has learnt to control his aggression that has helped him to become a mature player.
He played for Delhi Daredevils in IPL 10 and was one of the best young batsmen in that season. If Pant is selected in the playing XI against England, he would be eager to perform to the best of his ability and showcase his talent to the world.
