In the first press conference after stepping down from captaincy in limited overs format, MS Dhoni said that Virat Kohli’s team India will rewrite history. India and England will take on each other in a three match ODI Series starting on 15th January. MS Dhoni is expected to bat according to the team’s need and would be a key member in limited overs format as they seek to defend the Champions Trophy title that India won in 2013.

MS Dhoni said in the press conference that he wanted to bat lower down the order because the Indian team did not have an explosive batsmen lower down the order who could finish the games for India. He also said the limited over series against South Africa in 2015 was the last home series as captain vs. South Africa and wanted to give Kohli time and decided to give Kohli the captaincy in all formats.

He made it clear that the relationship between Kohli and him was close. Kohli contributed whenever he got a chance to bat and was never worried about whenever he missed on runs.

According to him, the Current Indian team under the captaincy of Kohli can win under any conditions. Finally, Dhoni ended by saying that Virat Kohli team will be the most successful and will rewrite history in all formats.
