After the squad selection for the One-Day international and T20 series against England, MSK Prasad has said that Yuvraj Singh has been given a chance in both teams due to his strong performances in the 2016/17 Ranji Trophy season. Yuvraj Singh performed well in this year domestic season for Punjab scoring 672 runs in 5 matches.

He last played an ODI match in 2013. Since then he has been out of the squad. Yuvraj Singh played a key role in helping India win the World Cup 2011 after 28 years. He was named the man of series during that tournament.

Talking at the press conference after announcing the team Prasad said they had to pick Yuvi due to his exemplary show in domestic cricket where he had played some fantastic knocks for Punjab.

“We should appreciate the way Yuvi has played in domestic cricket. He played some fantastic innings, he got a double hundred, and he got 180 in the Lahli wicket. We appreciate it and have given him a chance,” Prasad said.
