There seems to no stop on the list of Indian players getting injured before the 10th season of IPL. KL Rahul was already ruled out due to shoulder injury along with Indian captain Virat Kohli . Who is also nursing an injury that would make him miss the initial few weeks of the IPL. Now, there are reports coming in that both Ravichandran Ashwin (Rising Pune Supergiant) and Murali Vijay (Kings XI Punjab) expected to give the 10th edition of IPL a miss due to respective injuries they have been carrying.
Ravichandran Ashwin was diagnosed with a sports hernia injury and has been ruled out for six to eight weeks. Ashwin who has had a tiring season where he bowled the most number of overs in a Test season. After playing non-stop cricket since July Ashwin is expected to begin rehabilitation and be back before Team India begins its ICC Champions Trophy defense from June.
Ashwin’s exit adds to already woeful condition of RPSG as Mitchell Marsh was also ruled out due to a shoulder injury. In the previous season of IPL 9, the Indian offspinner picked up 10 wickets in 14 games for Rising Pune Supergiant.
Meanwhile, Murali Vijay is likely to join his Tamil Nadu and India teammate on the sidelines with shoulder and wrist concerns.
The report further claims that the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Umesh Yadav will sit out the starting phases of the Indian T20 league. India had just finished a long home season which saw them play 13 Test matches along with limited overs cricket which possibly led to cricketers getting tired and injured.
India physio Patrick Farhaart is expected to send across a report to the concerned franchises.
