Former India captain Ravi Shastri, who was team director of the Indian men’s cricket team from August 2014 to April 2016, has been appointed as head coach for a two-year period until the end of the 2019 ICC World Cup.

And It's Ravi Shastri who holds the Head Coach position

Though Ravi didn’t give his submission form unless BCCI had extended the time limit up to 9th July. And Ravi submitted it belatedly, suppressing all the other candidates who were in the list. And there comes the point where Ravi Shastri mark out all of them.

The news launched in the media one day after Cricket Advisory Committee(CAC) went for the interview. CAC announced that they need more time to discuss their selected candidate with Virat Kohli. As Virat was out of India, hence they needed more time.

The list of candidates who were former India opener Virender Sehwag, former Sri Lanka coach and current coach of IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad Tom Moody, current Afghanistan coach Lalchand Rajput and former Pakistan and Bangladesh coach and director of West Indies cricket Richard Pybus. Previously, on 9th July the list was too large and BCCI had to eliminate some of the names to make it shorter and comprising of the aforesaid members.

Though, barring Virender Sehwag none of the members were present in Mumbai for the interview. But they have run the process through video calling in Skype.

Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman were also present to decide the ultimate profounder of the squad. Sachin Tendulkar is also a member of CAC, but he was not physically present. He joined them through a video call. Other members of the Committee are Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman.

Anyhow, after Anil Kumble’s resignation regarding some cold war running between the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Kumble, BCCI endorsed for the vacancy of the Head Coach’s post. But, yes Ravi Shastri’s returning as a Head Coach can bring something ecstatic out of the current poor situation of the team.

Initially, Ravi had a cordial relation with the skipper Virat Kohli. This thought gave a chance to CAC officials to rethink about this 55-year-old man. Their course of understanding themselves and bringing the best yield out of it has convinced the selectors. When Ravi Shastri was the Team-Director, India could see some faces of success. They have won CT2013 and also reached the semis of WC2015 and WCT20.

Meanwhile, Ravi alleged that Sourav Ganguly was not present during the interview of Shastri. Sourav again backfired that Shastri should have taken the interview more seriously. He could have been in India to apply in person before the CAC.
