Hardik Pandya

No doubt Hardik Pandya has been the most prominent figures in the Indian team right now. With Jadeja and Ashwin getting a timeout and Yuvraj Singh failing the fitness test, the only reliable all-rounder is Hardik Pandya. And he has proved that each time starting from Champions Trophy till date.

He has been phenomenal and an instance again came in the first ODI at Chennai, India vs Australia. Nathan Coulter Nile and Zampa’s spell ripped apart Indian batting line-up sending Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey for a duck. At one point of time, India was 81/5 making the fans go awestruck. But then came to the savior man Pandya along with Dhoni. thanks to their 100 run partnership that put up a good score.

Pandya who is known for pinch-hitting sent away three consecutive sixes in Zampa’s over. Speaking after his whirlwind knock said he has learned a lot from MS Dhoni who scored 79 of 88. No doubt Dhoni has been always an inspiration for the younger generation and is always known to motivate teammates.

“The situation where we were in, it feels good. They were on top and the pressure was there, so it was important to give myself some time. Came off pretty well. I have learnt a lot from Dhoni; I’m still learning a lot. When we were batting, we were thinking of 230, so we’ll take this,”said Pandya.

Australia failed to bank on and wickets fell in quick succession; thanks to Chahal and Kuldeep’s spin attack. Hardik Pandya also got wickets and thus no doubt received the Man Of The Match Award.

It was a good day for me. Couple of catches would have helped. It feels pretty good. I don’t think anything has changed. I’m the same Hardik, perhaps a bit calmer than last year. I just wanted to play my game,” he said at the presentation ceremony.

“I knew what he (Zampa) was going to bowl. We were planning and eventually I targeted one over. I liked it and eventually it helped. As a cricketer, it is important to have the right form. I am glad I am doing well in the batting department and bowling department. I have a wonderful bunch of people around me. I’d like to thank my coach,” he added.

If Pandya continues to play like this, he will definitely be the best bargain for India in future as he is turning out to be the player of big occassions.
