Joe Root has admitted that the current Indian tour has been tough for the England team. They lost the test series 0-4 and One day Internationals 2-1 despite playing some excellent cricket in the entire series. India dominated the test series and won it by 4-0. In the ODI series, England played excellent cricket scoring 350+ in the first ODI and almost won the second ODI chasing a massive 381.

Joe Root has been consistent performer for England who did a great job in test matches, ODI series. England players have done well on this tour, especially some of the batsmen. Joe Root did ever so well in the Test matches while Jason Roy was not at all shy in the One day Internationals. “I do think our players have made an impact, more so for the important summer ahead. They’re making sure they’re doing everything to put themselves in the right position come the Champions Trophy selection,” Root stated.

“The core of our 50-over side and T20 side is very similar, so it’s really important for us to figure out how to win as a team going into the summer,” he added.

England will host the Champions Trophy 2017 that starts from 1st June. India, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka are in one group while England, New Zealand, Bangladesh and South Africa have been clubbed in the other group.

India is the defending Champions of the prestigious tournament. England have been playing excellent cricket winning 5 out 7 ODI series since 2015 June.
