As the mighty world cup 2019 is knocking on the door, New Zealand would like to walk into it with a positive attitude and right mentality by beating in-form team India. New Zealand will be playing team India with high confidence as they clean sweeped Srilankan team in their latest ODI series by 3-0.

They seem to be totally ready to play with team India and they have announced their 14 man squad for their first 3 ODIs. The 14 man squad includes:

  1. Kane Williamson (c)
  2. Trent Boult
  3. Doug Bracewell
  4. Colin de Grandhomme
  5. Lockie Ferguson
  6. Martin Guptill
  7. Matt Henry
  8. Tom Latham (wk)
  9. Colin Munro
  10. Henry Nicholls
  11. Mitchell Santner
  12. Ish Sodhi
  13. Tim Southee
  14. Ross Taylor.

These matches are supposed to be real tough for team India in comparison with Australian team as some kiwi player looked in perfect form in recent matches and they have been playing some good cricket to challenge team India.

Changes in New Zealand squad after Sri Lanka tour of New Zealand

  1. The first and the most important change that has been done in New Zealand team is bringing Tom Latham by replacing out of form Tim Seifert who only managed to score 33 runs in his 2 innings this year. Tom Latham had a brilliant game against Srilankan team in the test series and was rested in the ODIs to make sure he stays feet for the battle against team India.
  2. James Neesham place was sure for the India tour of Srilanka if he had not suffered the grade-one hamstring strain in the third ODI against Sri Lanka. He really played well in the last series and was giving a good challenge to Colin de Grandhomme. But the injury made it sure that Colin de Grandhomme will be in the squad for the first 3 ODIs and he has to do well in those matches if he does not want to lose that spot in the last 2 matches.
  3. Mitchell Santner seems to have recovered from his injury and played T20Is against Sri Lanka. He is fit to play against India in the first 3 ODIs.

Head coach Gary Stead shared his thought about the selections and said “Our two main priorities have been to select and prepare a squad capable of winning what is shaping as a massive series against India, and gathering as much information as possible ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup in England and Wales. Tom and Colin are experienced players in this format and will offer quality in their respective roles, and Mitch and Doug showed us what they are capable of during the T20 on Friday night.
