After a lot of drama with Indian Head Coach selection, Shastri got the job. Though after his appointment he is having a good time with the team after back to back wins. A win against the West Indies followed by a 3-0 win against Sri Lanka and 2-0 lead already in the 5 match ODI series.

Ravi Shastri calls Bhuvi-Dhoni rearguard as ‘jail break’

But things could have turned into a leveler after 2nd ODI at Pallakelle if Dhoni and Bhuvneswar Kumar’s 100 run partnership was absent. Things looked perfect for first few hours. Chasing a revised target of 231 in 47 overs in the second ODI in Kandy, India looked great as Rohit and Dhawan added more than a 100 for the opening wicket. But once the mystery spinner Dananjaya took over, things went a bit opposite of expectations.

India were 131 for 7, thanks to Dananjaya’s six wicket haul. With 100 runs to get and just three wickets in hand, India gasped. But for the 8th wicket, a partnership of 100 runs was put by Dhoni and Bhuvi duo. Dhoni getting 45 and Bhuvi, a career best 54.

Ravi Shastri was pleased with such a batting display.

Indeed it was a jail break as if not Dhoni and Bhuvi’ partnership who would. Sri Lanka was again disappointed that a good bowling performance was all in vain. But at least they have put up a fight unlike other matches and they must take positives ahead of the match.
