3. Chennai Super Kings: 246/5 vs Rajasthan Royals in 2010.

Although Chennai Super Kings won the match by 23 runs Murali Vijay gave a tough response to the Rajasthan Royals’ bowling attack while scoring 127 off 56 balls to help Chennai Super Kings after 246/5 at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai on April 3, 2010. At that time, Chennai Super Kings’ score was the highest team total in IPL, bettering their own 240/5 against Kings XI Punjab in 2008. Vijay’s 127 was the 2ndhighest individual score in Indian Premier League after Kolkata Knight Riders’ Brendon McCullum’s 157 and he became only the 3rd Indian to score an IPL century after Manish Pandey and Yusuf Pathan. The way Vijay banged the likes of Shane Watson, Shaun Tait, and Shane Warne, it seemed he was playing in some local league. He made the Royals’ bowlers look pedestrian and Warne simply did not know how to stop Vijay’s aggression. Murali Vijay played the match at a strike rate of 226.78 including 8 fours and 11 sixes in the match.

ML Hayden played well with a run rate of 34 off 21 balls which had 5 fours and a six in it at a strike rate of 161.90. JA Morkel got run out after making a score of 62 in 34 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes in it at a strike rate of 182.35. Another talented batsman MS Dhoni had a bad time this time as he scored 0 runs in 1 ball at a strike rate of 0.00. Further two batsmen S.Badrinath and S.Anirudh scored 4 runs in 1 ball that too a four shot at a strike rate of 400.00 and 0 runs in 0 balls at a null strike rate respectively. M Muralitharan, SB Jakati, DE Bollinger and S Tyagi did not bat in the match.
