Australia’s Legendary cricketer Ricky Ponting who is known for his aggressive captaincy, stylish batting and probably the best captain ever in the world of cricket is all set for a new role. Ricky Ponting is about to bring a world cup again for his home country but this time as a coach. According to some reports, Ricky Ponting is in line to become coach of Australia at the World T20 in 2020 which is been played in their home soil.

A News Corp report claimed Cricket Australia was in negotiations for Ricky Ponting to coach the Australian side for the event in 2020. As per the schedule, Australia’s T20 tri-series against England and New Zealand battling with their Test tour of South Africa in February 2018.

The current support staff of David Saker, Brad Haddin and Graeme Hick travel to South Africa to lead an advanced party with just head coach Darren Lehmann handling the coaching responsibility during the limited-overs series against England and T20I tri-series.

However, The Legendary cricketer who has 41 test centuries in his pocket, three times world cup winner, All time leading top runs scorer in ODI’s and Tests and also known as the most intelligent cricketer around the globe might take the charge of the T20 side.

Although, The talks are in their intial stage. Ricky Ponting who took charge of Mumbai Indians in IPL and won the Indian Premier League in 2015 is now in talks with Delhi Daredevil to take charge of their team ahead of IPL 2018.

“Coaching in the IPL was really challenging and a lot of fun to get a real taste for what coaching is all about was great,” Ponting told cricket.com.au in February.

He also added how coaching adds competitiveness in the game once you retire from playing cricket.

“As a past player who’s been ultra-competitive all through your playing time and then when your career ends, that all goes away. “Coaching is a way to add a bit more of that competitiveness back into life. “That’s one thing I’ve said to the boys over the last couple of days, I’m a pretty competitive person and if I see things around the group that aren’t the way I want them, I’ll let them know and make sure they up the ante and get everything out of themselves.” said Ricky Ponting.

With so many challenges coming up for the Australian Cricket Team and Ricky Ponting who got loads of experience about how to deal with it and coaching one as well might work out for the Australian cricket team.
